Circus arts are part of the physical education curriculum at the Great Barrington Rudolf Steiner School. Through activities like tumbling and acrobatics children are encouraged to experience and gain an awareness of the space around them. When students feel comfortable moving in their bodies as well as extending into the space around them, their strength is felt both physically and emotionally. Through these activities, along with games and sports, children can learn to meet one another, and the challenges that the world brings to them, with confidence. Capacities as an adult to be flexible, lead a balanced life, help and support others and juggle life’s tasks are exercised as a child through the circus arts.
